Saldana & Ruffalo Paired for Infinitely Polar Bear

New York Magazine’s Vulture is reporting on the marital drama Infinitely Polar Bear, produced by J.J. Abrams and directed by screenwriter Maya Forbes (Monsters vs. Aliens), saying that Zoe Saldana and Mark Ruffalo are set to star in it with plans to start filming in September.

Described as a darker dramatic version of the ’80s comedy Mr. Mom, starring Michael Keaton, Ruffalo will play a bipolar family man who goes off his meds and loses his job and sanity while trying to keep his marriage together. Saldana plays his wife who moves out of the house leaving him alone with the kids.

The film is being co-produced by billionaire heiress Megan Ellison who is funding P.T. Anderson’s next two films, and though nothing is confirmed in terms of the studio who might release the movie, it’s presumed Paramount would continue its partnership with J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot.

The story also suggests that Zaldana will go right from this movie to reprising her role as Uhura in the Star Trek sequel, though there still is no sign whether J.J. Abrams will direct that or not.
