Stranger Things Season 2 Cast Expands

Sean Astin, Linnea Berthelsen and Paul Reiser join the Stranger Things season 2 cast

Meet the latest additions to the Stranger Things Season 2 cast! EW has the news, reporting that Sean Astin, Linnea Berthelsen and Paul Reiser have all signed on to join returning stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Cara Buono, Charlie Heaton, and Matthew Modine. As previously announced, the Stranger Things Season 2 cast will also include new additions Sadie Sink (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) and Dacre Montgomery (the Red Ranger in the upcoming Power Rangers movie).

Berthelsen is a Hollywood newcomer and, according to the outlet, she’ll play a woman named Roman who has the following official description:

“An emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child. Although she does not live in Hawkins, she is mysteriously connected to the supernatural events at the lab…”

Reiser, meanwhile, will play Dr. Owens:

“A high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a ‘clean-up’ assignment, tasked with containing the events of last year.”

Astin, finally, will play a man by the name of Bob Newby:

“A kindhearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack.”

Stranger Things Season 2 will consist of 9 episodes set in 1984. Look for it to debut in 2017, produced by 21 Laps for Netflix. Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer (Wayward Pines, Hidden) serve as writer, directors and co-showrunners of the series, and are executive producers along with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen via their 21 Laps entertainment banner (The Spectacular Now, Night at the Museum, Real Steel, Date Night). Shawn Levy also serves as director.
