It’s been a busy week of talent news for PT Anderson’s untitled next project with word first of Jesse Plemons and David Warshofsky signing on, followed by Amy Adams joining the project as well. Now, Variety reports that Rami Malek is the latest member of the ever-growing cast.
Phillip Seymour Hoffman is attached to play the lead, the creator of a faith-based group in the 1950’s. Said to be loosely based on the life of L. Ron Hubbard and the creation of Scientology, the film will also star Joaquin Phoenix as Freddie, the right hand man to Hoffman’s character who ultimately begins to question the organization.
Malek, who will next appear in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, will play Clark, the husband to Hoffman’s character’s still-uncast daughter.
Set to begin production next month, the film will be Anderson’s first work since There Will Be Blood. That film was also the only one of Anderson’s not to feature Hoffman as an actor.
