Lucy Fry Joins Will Smith Fantasy Cop Movie Bright

Lucy Fry is the latest star to join the Bright cast

Lucy Fry has, per The Hollywood Reporter, joined the cast of Suicide Squad director David Ayer’s next project, the blockbuster-budgeted Netflix feature film Bright. The film reteams Ayer with Suicide Squad star Will Smith and is also headlined by Joel Edgerton (The Gift, Exodus: Gods and Kings) and Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Prometheus).

Likened to Ayer’s own End of Watch, Bright takes place in a world that blends contemporary reality with a fantasy realm. The story follows an Orc cop (Edgerton) who is partnered with a human cop (Smith). Their ordinary beat takes a decidedly unordinary turn when they wind up coming into the possession of a massively powerful (and highly illegal) weapon: a magic wand.

Lucy Fry is playing the part of Tikka, an elf who has come to have the wand and who has therefore come under the protection of Smith and Edgerton’s characters. Naturally, there are some nefarious villains out there who would love to get their hands on the wand.

Originally scripted by Max Landis (whose recent screenplays have included Victor Frankenstein and American Ultra), Bright has, thanks to the author, revealed a number of tidbits via social media. Although it’s not necessarily a scene that will appear in the final film, you can get a taste of Bright‘s unique alternate reality in the below tweet:

An Australian actress, Lucy Fry launched her career with headlining roles on the teen drama Lightning Point and the mermaid family fantasy series Mako: Island of Secrets (a spinoff of the popular Aussie series H2O). On the big screen, Lucy Fry has starred in films like Vampire Academy and The Darkness while recently appearing on the television series Wolf Creek and 11/22/63. Fry can currently be seen on the big screen starring opposite Eddie Murphy in the drama Mr. Church.
