Alex Pettyfer has joined the cast of director Steven Soderbergh’s Magic Mike, Deadline reports.
The film is set to star Channing Tatum and is inspired by the actor’s real-life experiences working as stripper at age 19 in Tampa, Florida. Tatum will play “Magic Mike,” an experienced dancer who teaches a younger apprentice (Pettyfer) the tricks of the trade.
The film will be produced by Nick Wechsler, Gregory Jacobs, Tatum and Reid Carolin, who is also writing the script.
Pettyfer recently appeared in Beastly and I Am Number Four and is set to next appear in Andrew Niccol’s next opposite Amanda Seyfried. Formerly titled I’m Mortal, the film was then changed to Now. Deadline suggests that the sci-fi project has been retitled again and will be called In Time.
