Ethan Hawke is set to appear in the upcoming remake of Total Recall, Heat Vision reports.
The film is based on the 1990 Paul Verhoeven adaptation of the short Philip K. Dick story, “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale.” The original starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as Douglas Quaid (to be played by Colin Farrell in this version), a man who, after buying implanted memories of a vacation to Mars, begins to remember experiences tied to an elaborate conspiracy.
Hawke, best known for films like Before Sunrise and Gattaca, most recently appeared on the big screen in Daybreakers. Hawke’s role is being witheld for the time being, but the original article suggests that it is primarily a cameo.
Total Recall is currently eyeing an August 3, 2012 release.
