ComingSoon.net has learned two of Sony Pictures Classics’ high-profile festival movies and potential awards bait have begun to flesh out their release plans for this year’s fall movie season.
Mere hours after its UK release date was announced for August 26, we’ve learned Pedro Almodovar’s horror-thriller The Skin I Live In, reuniting the filmmaker with Antonio Banderas, will be released in the United States in November. That would be perfect timing for awards season and the Oscars, territory on which Almodovar has trod upon quite often in the past, most notably winning the Oscar for his screenplay for Talk to Her.
Meanwhile, Jeff (Shotgun Stories) Nichols’ thriller Take Shelter, starring Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain, a hit at this past January’s Sundance Film Festival, will be released on October 7, presumably in New York and L.A. with a national rollout to follow.
