It was revealed today that Travis Fimmel (Warcraft, “Vikings”) will star with Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns, 21), William Fichtner (The Dark Night, Armageddon), and Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland, Lee Daniels’ The Butler) in the heist movie Finding Steve McQueen, which Mark Steven Johnson (Ghost Rider, Daredevil) will direct.
Also joining the cast in supporting roles are John Finn (Catch Me If You Can, Glory), Rhys Coiro (“Entourage”) and Louis Lombardi (Jersey Boys, Runner Runner).
Finding Steve McQueen is based on the true story of the biggest bank heist in US history. In 1972 a gang of close-knit thieves from Youngstown, Ohio attempt to steal $30 million in illegal contributions and blackmail money from President Richard Nixon’s secret fund. Keith Sharon (Showtime) and Ken Hixon (City by the Sea) wrote the screenplay.
The film is being produced by Anthony Mastromauro (Identity Films), Silvio Muraglia (Paradox Studios), Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi (AMBI Group), and Alexandra Klim. Mikael Wiren will executive produce.
AMBI Distribution, the worldwide sales arm of the AMBI Group, is handling global sales and will be introducing the project to buyers in Toronto during TIFF.
Principal photography is slated to begin next month in Atlanta, Georgia.
