As Len Wiseman’s Total Recall gears up for production, casting is underway for the film’s two female leads and, thanks to a report at Deadline, we now have an idea of who’s been reading for what role.
The film, based on the 1990 Paul Verhoeven adaptation of the short Philip K. Dick story, “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale,” features two key female parts, Lori (Sharon Stone in the original) and Melina (Rachel Ticotin).
Currently vying for the part of Lori are Kate Bosworth and Diane Kruger with Eva Mendes, Paula Patton, Jessica Biel and Eva Green in contention for the Melina part. Deadline‘s article notes that, though Mendes has been reading for Melina, she could foreseeably win the Lori role instead.
The original starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as Douglas Quaid, a man who, after buying implanted memories of a vacation to Mars, begins to remember experiences tied to an elaborate conspiracy.
The remake is currently eyeing an August 3, 2012 release.
