Actor and fashion designer Tara Subkoff (The Last Days of Disco, Foxcatcher) has completed her feature directorial debut, the online-centric scare film, #Horror, starring Disco co-star Chloë Sevigny.
The Playlist, who premiered the photos, reports #Horror “centers on a group of 12 year old girls who face a night of terror when the compulsive addiction of an online social media game turns a moment of a cyber bullying to a night of insanity.” Inspired by true events, the film is said to “examine a world of escalating cruelty and alienation through an online game where scoring likes comes at the cost of human lives.”
Sevigny is joined by Timothy Hutton, Lost Highway‘s Balthazar Getty, Natasha Lyonne, Orange is the New Black‘s Taryn Manning and more. #Horror is currently a presence at the Cannes market and is expected to hit fests this fall. Its first images artful, weird ones, pegging this as at least a stranger portrait of cyber comeuppance than this spring’s Unfriended.
