The best horror film of 2014 is coming to Blu this spring thanks to a collaboration between distributor IFC Midnight and beloved home video label Scream Factory.
Jennifer Kent’s feature debut is a haunting, wonderful piece of work, one that only grows richer on further view. Scream Factory and IFC have announced an April 14th, 2015 release for the film in special edition Blu, standard Blu and standard DVD. If you’ve not yet seen my favorite film of the year, The Babadook concerns single, widowed mother Amelia and her wildly misbehaved, but sweet son Samuel. One night, Samuel chooses a new book from his shelf, one whose malevolent prose unleashes the story’s monster into Amelia and Sam’s reality.
The special edition of The Badadook will exclusively feature a limited pop-up packaging (see below), as well as Jennifer Kent’s short film Monster (the feature’s inspiration and source) and deleted scenes. All editions will host the following features:
Cast and Crew interviews and a look behind-the-scenes of the making of The Babadook
Creating The Book with illustrator Alex Juhasz
A Tour of the House Set
The Stunts: Jumping the stairs
Special Effects: The Stabbing Scene
