Exclusive First Look: The U.S. Poster for The Canal, Release Date Revealed!

Rupert Evans the CanalThe Canal, a film I helped guide into the hands of The Orchard (with whom we have a partnership with) straight out of the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year, recently played to San Diego Comic-Con attendees last month. I was there and it scared the crap out of them, which was a good feeling. Some really positive reviews came out of that screening. Now, I’m eager for you all to check it out.

The Orchard is giving the film an October 10th release; that’s when it will hit select theaters (20 cities, I’m told) and VOD. Below, you’ll find the official one-sheet. A new trailer is expected to hit the web next week.

The film tells the story of David Williams (Hellboy‘s Rupert Evans) and his wife, Alice, who move into a beautiful period house by the canal with their small child, Billy. As David begins to suspect that his wife is cheating on him, he also starts to have nightmarish visions of an evil presence he believes inhabits his home. Eventually, brutal 20th-century murders are revealed and present-day horrors consume the protagonists.

To learn a bit more about the film, check out our interview with writer-director Ivan Kavanaugh and Evans right here. Check out the trailer below as well!
