Netflix Horrors is a regular column in which Shock Till You Drop alerts you to the latest genre titles to hit the VOD service. It’s the beginning of a new month. Naturally, this is the time Netflix drops a slew of titles and Shock definitely has a few titles to tell you about that are available to watch now. (Reminder: I’m aware some of these tiles have been on Netflix before. Some are making their return, others are making their debut to the service.)
First, there’s The Conqueror Worm. Yes, the Vincent Price-starring film from the late-’60s that is also known as Witchfinder General. Taken by today’s genre climate that is populated by witches? Then do yourself a favor and check out this essential Price film directed by Michael Reeves.
Set in 17th-century England, the film concerns a young woman who sets out to end the reign of corruption invoked by a witchfinder named Matthew Hopkins (Price).
Next is Timur Bekmambetov’s glossy supernatural actioner Day Watch. Worth a look if you were impressed by Night Watch.
Then there’s Orca, The Killer Whale from 1977 and starring Richard Harris, Charlotte Rampling and Bo Derek. This is some next-level awful. A Jaws rip-off involving a killer whale that’s how for revenge for the death of its mate. There are a lot of puzzling choices in this one, but if you’re up for a bad flick, then this is for you.
And, finally, there’s The Den – you can read Ryan Larsen’s review of this one here.
