Blumhouse Productions has lined up another film for its horror pipeline: Stephanie. Deadline says it will be a directing vehicle for Akiva Goldsman, writer of I Am Legend and director of this year's Winter's Tale (among the many other things he has done).
Stephanie was a "Blood List" selection in 2012 (meaning it earned some kudos from industry insiders as a solid read). Written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, it was described as Paperhouse meets Carrie.
Deadline takes that further with this plot synopsis:
[It’s a] story about a little girl with unworldly abilities who was abandoned before a man and a woman show up claiming to be her parents, thereby interrupting her mysterious world.
Production is said to begin this fall.
