THR says that Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill are going to team up for a feature film based on the episode “Demon With a Glass Hand,” which was scripted by Harlan Ellison and starred Robert Culp.
Derrickson and Cargill last collaborated on Sinister which they penned together for Derrickson to direct.
“Demon With a Glass Hand” found Culp playing a man with no memory of the last few days; but he has a computer attached to his wrist that’s in the shape of his missing hand and it has a few fingers missing. Adding to the mystery, an alien race – which has those fingers – is hunting him.
The episode, which aired in 1964, is one of the better Outer Limits entries and it’s easy to see why Derrickson and Cargill gravitated to the material.
No word yet on when the film will happen. Derrickson’s rather busy at the moment. He’s about to do press for Deliver Us from Evil, opening July 2nd, and he’s about to embark on an epic journey with Marvel directing Doctor Strange for the studio. Prometheus scribe Jon Spaihts will write.
