Samuragochi was born with a degenerative hearing condition causing him to be dubbed “Beethoven” in the media. All things change though. With the announcement yesterday, his lawyer made a statement: “I’ve been told that there are certain circumstances that make it hard for the person (who composed the works) to come out in public, and Samuragochi has come to describe himself as the sole composer. He is mentally distressed and not in a condition to properly express his own thoughts.”
Not quite sure what that means, but okay… In addition, Nippon Columbia Co. will be pulling his music from circulation and a tour featuring his music may be cancelled as well. In any case, the music stands on its own merits and holds its own truths. We will have to wait to see how this plays out, but any way you look at it, Mamoru Samuragochi’s career appears to be over.
