While talking to Eric Bana for his upcoming war drama Lone Survivor, ShockTillYouDrop.com talked with him about the supernatural thriller and working with Derrickson.
“That was just incredible,” Bana told us about the experience making the film. “I was again playing a real person, Ralph Saatchi, who was a particularly tough detective from the 46th Precinct in the Bronx, and we shot all through summer doing night shoots in the Bronx. It was an incredible experience. I’m playing a cop for the first time in my life and absolutely loved it and learned and saw things that really were quite challenging. It was a pretty amazing experience and it was great working with Scott–I’m a huge fan of his work. He has an amazing understanding of the genre and a respect for it, and I’m really excited to see that it’s been brought forward to a summer release. It’s very exciting for us.”
When we mentioned being on the set of The Exorcism of Emily Rose for a trial sequence involving Laura Linney, Campbell Scott and Tom Wilkinson, we noted that it felt more like a drama than a horror movie. Bana agreed with that assessment: “Yeah, he really understands character and the same with ‘Sinister’–Ethan’s performance in ‘Sinister’ is just fantastic–and he’s really a fan of character-driven horror cause it means a lot. This is one of the best characters I’ve ever read and I just jumped in and was obsessed with playing Ralph and it was amazing.”
Deliver Us From Evil opens on July 2, 2014, but you can read the rest of the Eric Bana interview, talking about Peter Berg’s Lone Survivor, over on ComingSoon.net sometime before its platform release on Christmas Day.
