SpectreVision and Cinefamily Team for Spectrefest This Month

SpectreVision, the company founded and partnered by Elijah Wood, Daniel Noah and Josh C. Waller has announced their first annual SpectreFest in partnership with Cinefamily to be held in Hollywood from October 19th – 31st.

“Our aim with SpectreFest is to provide an immersive, visceral experience beyond mere entertainment,” says co-founder Daniel Noah.  “Genre films, as well as cinema’s close cousin, music, can tweak our minds to show us new ways of interpreting the world we live in.  SpectreFest is an offering of some of the best of both from around the world.”

SpectreFest’s opening night event, in association with Cinespia and Cinefamily, will be a screening of the classic horror-comedy An American Werewolf in London, to be held at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery with special guest DJs Wooden Wisdom.

SpectreFest will host the Los Angeles premieres of a few films.  October 21st will see the Los Angeles premiere of E.L. Katz’s award-winning Cheap Thrills.  Other premieres scheduled include Grand Piano, starring Elijah Wood and John Cusack, and Raze, a horror/action film starring Zoe Bell and Rachel Nichols, and directed by Josh C. Waller.

Other SpectreFest events will include exclusive screenings of movies featuring live scores performed by prominent musical artists.  Avant-garde rocker Ariel Pink will provide musical accompaniment to experimental shorts curated by the Cinefamily, and Chrome Canyon will add their electronic/synth music to Fritz Lang’s Metropolis.

Screenwriter and actor Leigh Whannell (Saw, Insidious 1 & 2, Cooties) will host “Childhood Haunts,” a selection of clips from some of the films that scared him as a child, followed by a full-length screening of a film that contributed to his adolescent nightmares.

The 13-night festival will culminate with a Halloween night party at The Bootleg Club, in association with Stones Throw Records. With the exception of the opening and closing nights, all events will take place at the Cinefamily theatre in Hollywood. A full schedule of events can be found via this link!
