Comic Con 2013 Live Blog: The Godzilla & Seventh Son Panel!

An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. Gareth Edwards directs Godzilla, which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, and Juliette Binoche, with David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston.

The fantasy action adventure Seventh Son takes audiences to a time long past, where evil is about to be unleashed. Jeff Bridges stars as Master Gregory, a Falcon Knight who imprisoned the malevolently powerful witch Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore) years ago. Now escaped, she seeks vengeance, and Gregory has only until the next blood moon to train a new apprentice (Ben Barnes), the seventh son of a seventh son, to fight a dark magic unlike any other.

The panel begins at 10:45am Pacific.  Head inside to tune in!

Do we know the order of the presentations?

10:34
ComingSoon.net: Usually they go by the program, so the way it’s listed above should be it.

Comment From Chris
Will you be posting photos if allowed?

10:35
Spencer Perry-SHH: No pics or videos, cameras aren’t allowed in Hall H. BUT we’re live blogging everything for you guys!

10:36
ComingSoon.net: Photos are allowed, but we’ll see.

10:36
Comment From Guest
I don’t know if you do sound recordings but if so please record Godzilla’s roar.

10:36
EDouglasCS: Hello!

10:36
Spencer Perry-SHH: “Skreeonk”

10:37
ComingSoon.net: It sounds like this …. ROOOOOOOAAAAAR!

10:37
EDouglasCS: Not sure we’ll see a Godzilla trailer until The Hobbit… the stuff shown in Hall H is usually very early. Like most movies, they just finished shooting Godzilla.

10:38
EDouglasCS: The studios don’t like leaked video or photos taken from the screens because they’re still working on stuff. It’s not fair to the filmmakers.

10:39
ComingSoon.net: It’s Godzilla’ eye!! https://twitter.com/wbpictures/status/358641982140211200/photo/1

10:39
ComingSoon.net: Just kidding.

10:39
EDouglasCS: Godzilla and Smaug should have a staring contest.

10:39
EDouglasCS: So is everyone here JUST for Godzilla? No Mad Max fans?

10:40
EDouglasCS: Mad Max has been done shooting for a while I think.

10:40
ComingSoon.net: If they do anything for that.

10:40
EDouglasCS: Silas attended the Godzilla Encounter and wrote it up.

10:40
Spencer Perry-SHH: Personally I’m hoping Rodan makes an appearance at the Godzilla panel, but he’s been out of the public light for a while

10:41
EDouglasCS: I hope Rodan flies down the full length of Hall H like at a Pink Floyd concert.

10:41
Spencer Perry-SHH: You just made my day

10:41
EDouglasCS: I wouldn’t hold your breath waiting for a DC announcement… I’d be shocked.

10:42
Comment From Guest
Someone from “Aint It Cool News” thinks that WB has secret been planning a 2015 Batman release and that they’ll be surprise announcing it today. Do you think there’s any validity to that claim?

10:42
EDouglasCS: No.

10:42
Comment From jpinks
But what no love for the Might Mothra? LOL

10:42
Spencer Perry-SHH: Mothra is a punk!

10:42
EDouglasCS: I bet there’ll be more announcements at CinemaCon next year if anywhere.

10:42
Comment From WoodyGuthrie
Rodan and Anguirus would be so tight.

10:43
Spencer Perry-SHH: I like how you think

10:43
EDouglasCS: Rinko Kikuchi and Rila Whatsername (from Wolverine) as the new Mothra girls!

10:43
Spencer Perry-SHH: YES!

10:43
ComingSoon.net: Here’s where the Batman/Superman rumor comes from – http://herocomplex.latimes.com/movies/comic-con-2013-superman-batman-movie-will-follow-man-of-steel/

10:43
Comment From NakamuraX
If this movie takes off, THEN re-introduce the others. King Ghidorah first

10:43
Spencer Perry-SHH: You gotta bring in Rodan and Mothra first, so that Godzilla has someone to help him take down Ghidorah!

10:44
EDouglasCS: I’m dubious.

10:44
ComingSoon.net: More! http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/superman-batman-flash-justice-league-589521

10:44
EDouglasCS: Not sure who has shown up… except Garth Edwards and Alfonso Cuaron

10:45
ComingSoon.net: Batman/Superman in 2015, Flash in 2016, and Justice League in 2017.

10:45
Spencer Perry-SHH: Oh man!

10:45
ComingSoon.net: Let’s see if they will really make these announcements. Stay tuned.

10:45
Spencer Perry-SHH: Lest we forget, Flash and Justice League movies have been announced before and were never made

10:46
Comment From Daniel
Exercise caution. Online media rarely gets these early leaks right anymore. #worldsfinest

10:46
EDouglasCS: I guess a Batman/Superman movie would make more sense than Justice League or another Superman movie… they’ve been wanting to do World’s Finest for decades now

10:46
EDouglasCS: But I don’t put it past bad leaks going to THR especially following the Justice League “news” that was floating around for a year.

10:47
ComingSoon.net: Our sites will explode from all the awesome movies in 2015 if this is true. RIP our sites.

10:47
Spencer Perry-SHH: I’ll go back to being a potato farmer in Latvia

10:48
ComingSoon.net: When Silas comes on it will be starting…

10:50
ComingSoon.net: Here’s Silas…

10:50
Silas Lesnick: Hi there everyone! We’re starting!

10:50
EDouglasCS: What’s the running order, Silas?

10:50
Silas Lesnick: WB just opened the Hall H screen to super-size, revealing two additional screens on either side.

10:51
Silas Lesnick: The screen on the left has the WB logo while the one on the right has the Legendary one.

10:51
Silas Lesnick: The Legendary films are coming up first.

10:51
Silas Lesnick: Jeff Bridges is the first to come out for Seventh Son.

10:52
Silas Lesnick: The three screen are functioning as one as the film’s logo merges onto the main screen.

10:53
Silas Lesnick: “It has to do with myth,” says Bridges. “Are you guys into myth? Me too!”

10:53
EDouglasCS: Be patient, please… everything will be revealed as it happens,

10:53
Silas Lesnick: He’s suggest “Chock full o’ myth” as the film’s tagline.

10:53
Silas Lesnick: They’re beginning with a SDCC exclusive clip.

10:54
Silas Lesnick: Looks like it’s an extended trailer.

10:55
Silas Lesnick: Narrated by Bridges, it talks about the world being divided between light and darkness.

10:55
Silas Lesnick: He’s looking for the seventh son of a seventh son.

10:55
Silas Lesnick: There were 1000, but only one is left.

10:55
Silas Lesnick: Bridges is fighting an enormous beat, a boggart (sp?)

10:56
Silas Lesnick: He’s asked, “How you do fight a boggart?”

10:56
Silas Lesnick: “You don’t!” he says, “Run!”

10:56
Silas Lesnick: He leaps into a river to avoid it saying, “They hate water!”

10:56
Silas Lesnick: But the beast doesn’t care, and leaps right in afterwards.

10:57
Silas Lesnick: Lots of flashes of giant beasties attacking.

10:57
Silas Lesnick: Bridges introducing his family, but they’re all tombstones.

10:57
Silas Lesnick: Flashes of Julianne Moore, who looks like she’s having lots of fun playing a villain.

10:57
Silas Lesnick: (It’s a Lebowski reunion!)

10:58
Silas Lesnick: Bridge drinking from a flask. He’s asked, “What does that cure?”

10:58
Silas Lesnick: “Cowardice,” he says.

10:58
Silas Lesnick: That’s the end of the extended trailer. Bridges is excited. He says he hasn’t seen a movie like this since he was ten.

10:58
Silas Lesnick: The full cast is coming out now…

10:59
Silas Lesnick: Antje Traue, Kit Harington and Ben Barnes.

10:59
Silas Lesnick: Along with director Sergei Bodrov.

10:59
Silas Lesnick: “Jeff is the coolest dude on this Earth,” says Bodrov. “And this is a movie about him.”

11:00
Silas Lesnick: Traue is talking about how amazing Man of Steel has been for her.

11:01
ComingSoon.net: Foreshadowing? 🙂

11:01
Silas Lesnick: Could be 🙂

11:01
Silas Lesnick: Barnes is the hero of the story, the seventh son of a seventh son, who Bridges purchases to train.

11:03
Silas Lesnick: Sounds like Harington is getting the loudest screams from the crowd.

11:04
Silas Lesnick: Harington is talking about shooting under a rain tower for 7 straight days.

11:05
Silas Lesnick: Coupled with shooting Game of Thrones in Iceland, he’s seen some harsh shooting conditions lately.

11:05
Silas Lesnick: Here come fan questions…

11:06
Silas Lesnick: One woman is asking about the physical fighting for Bridges. She says she and him are about the same age and can’t imagine the things he’s doing in this one.

11:06
Silas Lesnick: Bridges says acting is “Advanced Pretend”.

11:06
Silas Lesnick: It’s just like being a kid and playing, he says.

11:08

ComingSoon.net: Seventh Son panel – https://twitter.com/wbpictures/status/358649102558441472/photo/1

11:09
Silas Lesnick: Someone is asking about merging practical effects and CGI

11:09
Silas Lesnick: Bodrov says you just need to forget CGI and concentrate on emotions when filming. CGI comes later.

11:10
Silas Lesnick: Some is asking Traue about action vs. drama.

11:10
Silas Lesnick: She’s talking about how much fun the action is and how her character can transform into an owl.

11:10
Silas Lesnick: But she loves having a chance to fight in a “feathery” dress.

11:11
Silas Lesnick: Harington, meanwhile, is grateful that he did not have to do his own action in a feathery dress.

11:13
Silas Lesnick: Barnes is saying that acting was particularly tricky on such a long shoot. Someone he’d do scenes that took place one minute before scenes he shot four months ago.

11:14
ComingSoon.net: Ben Barnes – https://twitter.com/Legendary/status/358650820843171840/photo/1

11:15
Silas Lesnick: Bridges is reading a quote that he likes about the difference between good and evil and how it exists in everyone and is oftentimes impossible to separate.

11:15
Silas Lesnick: He’s saying that the true gift of humanity is imagination and that it protects us from the sometimes harsh side of nature.

11:16
Silas Lesnick: He says that humans learn through hard lessons, though. “Take drinking,” he says. “How many times do you to learn the hangover lesson, for example.”

11:17
Comment From MarvelWatch
Have we really just spent 25 minutes out of an hour and half panel on Seventh Son…?

11:17
Spencer Perry-SHH: Panel is actually 2.5 hours, be patient, we’re getting there 🙂

11:17
Silas Lesnick: The last question is about the connection between Seventh Son and Gaellic myth

11:17
Silas Lesnick: Bodrov admits that they’ve taken a few liberties.

11:17
Silas Lesnick: Switching over to the next one now. Should be just a minute…

11:18
Silas Lesnick: Black and white newsreel footage just started on all the screens…

11:18
EDouglasCS: Godzilla!

11:18
Silas Lesnick: A beach with atomic testing. Looks like Godzilla for sure!

11:18
Silas Lesnick: The mushroom cloud is swelling. Ash is falling from the sky.

11:19
Silas Lesnick: The Godzilla logo has come up!

11:19
Silas Lesnick: They’re going to show the trailer from last year which, amazingly, never found it’s way online.

11:19
Silas Lesnick: It’s footage of a destroyed city with Oppenheimer’s quote about the fearsome power of atomic energy.

11:20
Silas Lesnick: “We knew the world would not be the same. Some people cried. Most people were silent.”

11:20
Silas Lesnick: “I remembered the line from the Hindu scriptute. Vishnu takes on his multi-armed form and says, ‘Now I am become death…”

11:20
Silas Lesnick: Godzilla scream!

11:21
Silas Lesnick: “….the destroyer of worlds.'”

11:21
Silas Lesnick: Gareth Edwards is the first on stage.

11:21
Silas Lesnick: Followed by Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Bryan Cranston!

11:22
Silas Lesnick: Edwards said he just finished shooting two days ago in Hawaii.

11:23
Silas Lesnick: He says he’s been amazing seeing Kick-Ass and Breaking Bad at SDCC because he just thinks of Aaron and Bryan.

11:23
Silas Lesnick: Edwards says he was blown away by the creative freedom the studio gave him.

11:23
Silas Lesnick: “So basically,” Cranston jokes, “You’re just like any other suck-up!”

11:24
Silas Lesnick: Olsen says the mood of shooting somehow felt more like an indie film. There was no down time. She was always shooting.

11:24
Silas Lesnick: She plays a nurse and a mother in the film.

11:24
ComingSoon.net: Gareth Edwards at the Godzilla panel – https://twitter.com/Legendary/status/358653564983341056/photo/1

11:25
Silas Lesnick: Cranston is joking that he’s the “old guy” on stage.

11:25
Silas Lesnick: But Godzilla was always his favorite monster when he was a kid.

11:26
Silas Lesnick: He says King Kong was too apologetic and does a quick impression of Kong as a wimp

11:26
ComingSoon.net: Poor Kong 🙁

11:26
Silas Lesnick: He was nervous about taking on the role because it seems like too iconic a film.

11:27
Silas Lesnick: “You really invest in these people and you still get Godzilla,” he says of the human characters.

11:28
Silas Lesnick: Edwards says it was important that the human characters be people who are close to Godzilla and not just random citizens.

11:28
Silas Lesnick: Edwards says that shooting in Canada meant everyone was super-friendly.

11:29
Silas Lesnick: Which leads Bryan to do his impression of friendly Canadian Godzilla.

11:29
Silas Lesnick: The codename for the film was “Nautillus”.

11:30
Silas Lesnick: Edwards was crossing the border and got stopped. They looked him up and realized that the film was really Godzilla. The border agents got excited and said, “Don’t f–k it up, man!”

11:31
Silas Lesnick: Edwards is talking about the tremendous pressure he feels even to not let himself down and make the movie the absolute best Godzilla film it can be.

11:31
Silas Lesnick: He says it’s really important to honor the Toho legacy and make “a true Godzilla film.”

11:31
Comment From Kyle
doing the same trailer from last year is kind of lame and BS

11:32
Silas Lesnick: Edwards says that people think of Hollywood as directors doing a big studio movie and then a passion project. He says it’s important to him for their not to be a difference there.

11:33
Silas Lesnick: Bryan’s big on impressions today. Now he’s getting laughs for his imitation of pre-vis footage.

11:33
EDouglasCS: Maybe they’ll release the teaser soon but usualy they’ll wait for a real trailer

11:33
Silas Lesnick: “We’ve got something big to show you before we end…”

11:33
ComingSoon.net: Aaron Taylor-Johnson on stage – https://twitter.com/Legendary/status/358655726354309120/photo/1

11:33
Silas Lesnick: To which Cranston stands and begins to take off his pants, to much applause.

11:33
Silas Lesnick: But now they’re moving into the actual reveal…

11:33
Spencer Perry-SHH: He is the danger!

11:34
Silas Lesnick: Here it comes…

11:34
Silas Lesnick: The WB and Legendary logos in Black and white…

11:34
Silas Lesnick: Soldiers running through the streets…

11:34
Silas Lesnick: A flooded city.

11:35
Silas Lesnick: Cranston takes off a radiation suit.

11:35
Silas Lesnick: Olsen crying…

11:35
Silas Lesnick: Paratroopers leaping out of a plane…

11:35
Silas Lesnick: Missles being loaded….

11:35
Silas Lesnick: A massive kaiju beast that ISN’T Godzilla!

11:35
EDouglasCS: what???

11:36
Silas Lesnick: It looks like a massively scaled insect with long spider legs.

11:36
ComingSoon.net: Pacific Rim 2! 🙂

11:36
Spencer Perry-SHH: Don’t you tease me

11:36
Silas Lesnick: It’s attacking a dock…

11:36
Silas Lesnick: Soldiers are fighting it…

11:36
Silas Lesnick: But a massive scaled foot comes down…

11:36
Silas Lesnick: It’s Gozilla! He’s HUGE.

11:37
Silas Lesnick: He makes the other creature look tiny and moves to attack it!

11:37
EDouglasCS: Kamakuras is a good guess… does it have wings?

11:37
Silas Lesnick: We don’t see his face yet, but it looks like the classic Godzilla!

11:37
EDouglasCS: Kumonga if it’s more spidery with no wings

11:37
Silas Lesnick: The footage cuts away to a “2014” logo

11:38
Silas Lesnick: As far as the other creature, think a combination of the Cloverfield monster and a bug from Starship Troopers

11:38
Silas Lesnick: They’re running another surprise. Not sure if it’s Godzilla or not yet…

11:38
EDouglasCS: that sounds like Kumonga

11:39
Silas Lesnick: A strange, alien desert with a growing green sky…

11:39
Silas Lesnick: A storm is coming in.

11:39
EDouglasCS: They probably won’t name the non-Godzilla kaizu

11:39
Silas Lesnick: A knight is standing there. He draws his sword…

11:39
ComingSoon.net: Warcraft?

11:39
Silas Lesnick: There’s a discarded suit of armor. He takes the shield from a skeleton…

11:39
Silas Lesnick: It’s World of Warcraft!

11:40
EDouglasCS: Directed by Duncan Jones!

11:40
Silas Lesnick: He’s gearing up. Creatures are coming over the hills. We follow a camera on an Orc as it moves to take, moving faster and faster….

11:41
Silas Lesnick: Just as the Orc’s blade comes down, it cuts to the logo!

11:41
Silas Lesnick: World of Warcraft is live action, btw, for those asking.

11:41
Silas Lesnick: It looks GREAT. Very gritty and realistic.

11:41
Silas Lesnick: Duncan Jones is here!

11:41
EDouglasCS: Sweet!

11:42
Silas Lesnick: “Can I just get this out of my system?” he says, screaming as a fanboy.

11:42
Silas Lesnick: “I know how lucky I am and I’m so, so excited to do it.”

11:43
Silas Lesnick: The footage is a “mood piece” but official shooting will start early next year.

11:43
Silas Lesnick: They’re moving to the next film, 300: Rise of an Empire!

11:44
Silas Lesnick: Animated Frank Miller is filling the three screens.

11:44
Silas Lesnick: Frank Miller art, that is.

11:44
Silas Lesnick: They’re beginning with footage…

11:44
Silas Lesnick: Lots of bodies, shot from above with Xerxes lording over them.

11:45
Silas Lesnick: He chops the head off one of the fallen Spartans.

11:45
Silas Lesnick: Archers holding off an invading fleet of ships on a beach.

11:46
Silas Lesnick: We’re introduced to Eva Green’s Artemisia, who is put in control of the army

11:46
Silas Lesnick: “Only gods can defeat the Persians,” she says. “You must become a god king.”

11:47
Silas Lesnick: (Sorry, defeat the Spartans, that is)

11:47
Silas Lesnick: We see Xerxes transformation into the character we see in the original film.

11:48
Silas Lesnick: They reference Leonidas and how they’re about to avenge him.

11:48
Silas Lesnick: LOTS of battle footage, much of it at sea.

11:49
Silas Lesnick: “Let it be shown that we chose to die on our feel, rather than live on our knees!” is shouted as the March release date comes up.

11:49
Silas Lesnick: Here comes director Noam Murro and stars Eva Green, Rodrigo Santoro, and Sullivan Stapleton.

11:50
Silas Lesnick: Murro says that if 300 was zoomed out, that’s what Rise of an Empire is.

11:50
Silas Lesnick: It takes place around the same time, but it’s bigger and shows what’s going on all around.

11:51
Silas Lesnick: Green says that this is the toughest character she’s ever played.

11:52
Silas Lesnick: She describes Artemisia as “a ruthless Joan of Arc”

11:52
Silas Lesnick: Artemisia is put in control of the Persian navy and is thirst for vengeance.

11:53
Silas Lesnick: She says she loves playing strong women on screen because she’s so shy in real life.

11:53
Silas Lesnick: Stapleton’s Themistocles is a military commander who attempts to unite the armies.

11:54
Silas Lesnick: He wears, as Stapleton puts it, “a denim skirt”.

11:56
Silas Lesnick: Murro is discussing his partnership with Zack Snyder

11:56
Silas Lesnick: “He helps when you need help — and sometimes you do need help — and steps away to give you the freedom to do what you need to do.”

11:57
Silas Lesnick: It’s turning over to audience questions now…

11:58
Silas Lesnick: At this point, the film is still deep in post-production.

11:58
ComingSoon.net: Vesper Lynd! https://twitter.com/Legendary/status/358662066049003521/photo/1

11:59
Silas Lesnick: Murro says that after shooting on the green screen stages, he came home and got rid of everything green in his house.

12:01
Silas Lesnick: Murro is talking about the challenge of continuing Snyder’s style while offering something of his own as well.

12:01
Silas Lesnick: He says that how it looks is in the film’s DNA, but it’s very different because so much of it takes place on water.

12:03
Silas Lesnick: Looks like that’s it for 300: Rise of an Empire. Up next is the straight-up WB portion of the panel.

12:03
Spencer Perry-SHH: To recap folks: Seventh Son, Godzilla, World of Warcraft, and 300: Rise of an Empire panels have finished (and can be read above!)

Coming up though is Gravity, The LEGO Movie, Edge of Tomorrow and maybe a super surprise or two. 🙂

12:03
Silas Lesnick: The next film is… Gravity!

12:04
ComingSoon.net: Silas will have to switch batteries shortly. So he might be off for a few minutes.

12:06
Silas Lesnick: Alfonso Cuaron is now on stage!

12:07
Silas Lesnick: He says that Sandra Bullock and George Clooney are the only actors in the entire film.

12:07
Silas Lesnick: What’s more, they’re treating space very scientifically. There’s no sound where there’s no oxygen.

12:08
Silas Lesnick: They’re showing a clip. George Clooney and Sandra Bullock is floating outside a space station.

12:08
Silas Lesnick: George Clooney is telling mission command that he has a bad feeling that’s just like a feeling he had during Mardi Gras. He begins to tell the story, sort of joking, but gets interrupted.

12:09
Silas Lesnick: Something is happened and they’re asking them to come back in,

12:10
Silas Lesnick: It’s all been on continuous take so far. It’s amazing-looking, visually.

12:10
Silas Lesnick: The camera floats around the scene and the sense of what’s up and what’s down keeps changing.

12:11
Silas Lesnick: Tension builds. Small meteors are shooting by.

12:11
Silas Lesnick: They begin to tear the ship apart. It’s incredibly violent (but not gorey or anything) but eerie with no sound.

12:12
Silas Lesnick: Bullock’s character is forced to disconnect and she flies off, shooting into the void of space.

12:12
ComingSoon.net: “In space, no one can hear you scream”

12:13
Silas Lesnick: The effects in this one are perfect. Like you’d expect from Cuaron, the cinematography is breathtaking.

12:13
Silas Lesnick: Screenwriter David Heyman and star Sandra Bullock have taken the stage.

12:14
Silas Lesnick: She’s joking about walking the floor later to get free stuff.

12:14
Comment From Jose
Was the Gravity presentation in 3D? Interested in how the 3D looks like.

12:15
Silas Lesnick: Nope. They gave us 3D glasses when we came in, but nothing has been in 3D quite yet.

12:16
Silas Lesnick: Sorry, Producer David Heyman, not writer.

12:16
Silas Lesnick: They’re talking about Bullock’s intense work days for shooting. She’d be held in a cube in her suit with the camera moving all around.

12:17
Silas Lesnick: She liked to stay in the cube between takes to stay in character.

12:18
Silas Lesnick: Sometimes the camera would move down a track at 20mph, stopping inches from Bullock’s face.

12:20
Silas Lesnick: Bullock is talking about being terrified of flying, which she had to do experience actual weightlessness.

12:21

12:22
ComingSoon.net: For those asking about Godzilla, it’s already done. Scroll up! 🙂

12:22
Silas Lesnick: The floor is being turned over to fan questions…

12:23
Silas Lesnick: Bullock is talking about how her past experience in dance really helped her out on-set.

12:24
Silas Lesnick: She wanted to make her character as androgynous as she could be because the character’s past has her having lost a child as a mother.

12:24
Silas Lesnick: She feels that the character shies away from distinctively female traits as a result.

12:26
ComingSoon.net: We have no confirmation of the DC Cinematic Universe rumor(s) that is going around today yet. Stay tuned.

12:27
Silas Lesnick: Heyman says that the most exciting thing about working with Cuaron is that he’s “a madman”.

12:28
Silas Lesnick: Cuaron is saying that some of his influences are Bresson’s A Man Escaped and Spielberg’s Duel.

12:28
Silas Lesnick: Vanishing Point, too!

12:29
Silas Lesnick: Someone asked about how difficult it is for Cuaron to do his long, continuous takes.

12:30
Silas Lesnick: “It’s not difficult for me,” he laughs. “It’s difficult for everyone around me.”

12:31
Silas Lesnick: That’s the end of Gravity!

12:32

12:34
Silas Lesnick: The film is a combination of both CGI and stop-motion

12:35
Silas Lesnick: The footage has fake auditions from all the LEGO characters.

12:36
Silas Lesnick: Miller and Lord said their original story was four hours long.

12:37
Silas Lesnick: We see Will Arnett’s Batman, who is sort of disinterested in being in the film.

12:37
Silas Lesnick: Will Ferrell’s Lord Business is very into it though. He wears a massive Galactus-type helmet.

12:37
Silas Lesnick: There are actually LEGO versions of Miller and Lord running the auditions.

12:38
Silas Lesnick: One of the characters is a cop that switches heads between good cop and bad cop.

12:38
ComingSoon.net: Haha!

12:38
Silas Lesnick: This looks REALLY fun.

12:39
Silas Lesnick: Ha, they’ve surprised moderator Chris Hardwick with a lifesize LEGO statue of himself at the end of the stage. I’m not sure he’s noticed it yet, though.

12:40
Silas Lesnick: They’re promising tons and tons of cameos.

12:40
Silas Lesnick: Channing Tatum as Superman and Jonah Hill as Green Lantern!

12:41
Silas Lesnick: Cobie Smulders as Wonder Woman!

12:41
Silas Lesnick: In her first-ever film incarnation.

12:41
Silas Lesnick: Hardwick just notice the LEGO and is sort of terrified.

12:41
Spencer Perry-SHH: Trivia: Cobie would have played Diana in Joss Whedon’s Wonder Woman film 🙂

12:42
Silas Lesnick: Fanmade LEGO shorts are being incorporated into the film.

12:42
Silas Lesnick: There’s nothing in the movie that isn’t LEGO. Explosions and water are all made out of LEGO.

12:42
Silas Lesnick: One of the things they were interested in exploring was the different types of things that people build out of LEGOs.

12:43
Silas Lesnick: Production on the movie has been split between LA, Australia and Denmark, where LEGO is based.

12:43
Comment From James
whos the villain in the lego movie

Silas Lesnick: It’s been roughly a three-year production.

Silas Lesnick: Lots of cheers when a fan mentioned “Clone High”.

12:45
Silas Lesnick: “A lot of our career is just a serious of hilarious misunderstandings,” says Lord.

12:45

12:46
Silas Lesnick: “This is the weirdest kids movie ever,” says Lord.

12:46
Spencer Perry-SHH: The LEGO Movie opens February 7, 2014 for those asking

12:46

12:47
Silas Lesnick: Miller fought for a classic space character to be one of the main guys.

12:47
Silas Lesnick: His mom actually sent his original space set from when he was a kid and they used it in the film.

12:47
Silas Lesnick: They promise that there are many, many cameos that are going to stay secret.

12:48
Silas Lesnick: Lin says that his kids have seen much of the movie and are excited because they can literally build the movie afterwards.

12:49
Silas Lesnick: “We wanted it to feel like someone with an infinite amount of time and money could build this in their basement,” says Lord.

12:51
Silas Lesnick: There’s a Ninja Turtle question from a fan dressed in Turtle gear. She wants to know who’ll be voicing the TMNT characters

12:51
Silas Lesnick: Lord says that they can’t because WB has put devices in their bodies that will explode if they reveal any more secrets.

12:59
Silas Lesnick: “Come find me when you wake up,” Blunt tells Cruise on the battlefield.
