Cooper is probably up for the role of “Mehmed”, the main supporting role to Vlad the Impaler, a Turkish Sultan who takes Vlad under his wing and ultimately comes into conflict with him. Gadon would be playing “Mirena,” an exotic and beautiful Transylvania woman who has a loving and caring relationship with Vlad. (These names may have changed since the earlier scripts.)
Said to explore the origin of the character, Dracula weaves vampire mythology with the true history of Prince Vlad the Impaler. It seeks to depict Dracula as a flawed hero in a tragic love story set in a dark age of magic and war.
Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless scripted the most recent draft of the screenplay and Michael De Luca will serve as producer. Dracula is scheduled for release August 8, 2014.
