So, here we are with a report at Variety saying that Magnolia is closing in on its deal with the S-VHS team. The company will likely emulate its VHS release model from last year, giving the sequel a late summer VOD bow and a fall limited theatrical run. But that’s all unconfirmed.
S-VHS received high praise at Sundance. Simon Barrett, Adam Wingard, Edúardo Sanchez, Gregg Hale, Timo Tjahjanto, Gareth Evans and Jason Eisener are part of the directing crop this time around.
Searching for a missing student, two private investigators break into his abandoned house and find another collection of mysterious VHS tapes. In viewing the horrific contents of each cassette, they realize there may be terrifying motives behind the students disappearance.
