Dark Shadows Site Launches, More Footage, Early Review In

It’s another big week for those anticipating Dark Shadows.  Yesterday, we broke the news the trailer was hitting on Thursday and even gave you a look at some footage.  This morning, we can tell you an official site has launched with a countdown clock building to the trailer debut.  After the jump, check out another promo featuring even more footage, a new cast shot and a snippet of an early review from this week’s test screening here in Los Angeles.

Here is the latest promo and cast shot from the site:

AICN is featuring an early reader review which says the film is rather good and an interesting mix of humor and horror (similar to Beetlejuice).  Here’s an excerpt which amused me:

There are the usual ‘fish out of water’ moments as Barnabus tries to wrap his head around the modern world of the 1970’s. At one point he mistakenly believes his 15-year old niece is a prostitute because of her skimpy outfits and later attacks a television set showing a performance by The Carpenters (most things he can’t understand he interprets as Satan). Depp makes those moments work wonderfully because he plays Barnabas with such earnestness that you can’t help but like the guy, even when he’s kind of an asshole (he does kill several people).

The film opens May 11th!
