Is Heather Morris Going to be Buffy ?

Further confusion is surrounding whether or not “Glee” actress Heather Morris, who plays cheerleader Brittany Pierce on the popular show, may indeed be in consideration to star in the lead role for the recently-announced and instantly-controversial Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot.

Morris’ name was rumored almost instantly after the project was announced, but then was promptly denied with a comment by screenwriter Whit Anderson on Twitter saying, “We’re not even thinking about casting yet…The script isn’t even written!” last Monday.

When Access Hollywood (via Latino Review) spoke to the actress at an event on Thursday, she cheerfully repeated the rumors about being considered for the role:

“They’re considering me! I found out and I almost peed my pants ’cause I was so excited! If they make [‘Buffy’] when [‘Glee’] is on hiatus, I don’t even care what I do, I can just run through the shot and do nothing – even if I’m not Buffy!”

If Warner Bros. are gearing up to release Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 2012 as previously reported, it would make perfect sense they’re already looking for actresses to play the lead role. Chances are that Morris may be one of many actresses being considered for the role or that the screenwriter, who probably knows a little more about the status of the project, is correct and Warner Bros. and the producers aren’t even thinking about an actress until they have a decent script in hand. Maybe Morris only heard the early rumors but no one passed on Anderson’s comments, although the writer’s tweets have also since been removed, probably at the request of Warner Bros.

Either way, there’s a lot of confusion swirling around what is truth and what is rumor about a project that “Buffy” creator Joss Whedon is not involved with despite having just finished writing a long-running comic book starring the character that followed-up from his popular television show.
