Heat Vision is reporting that James Mangold is attached to direct The Gunslinger, which New Regency is picking up in turnaround from Warner Bros. Pictures.
The revenge thriller centers on an ex-Texas Ranger who sets out to punish the men who killed his brother.
Andrew Lazar is producing the project. Mangold’s wife and producing partner, Cathy Konrad, will also produce via the couple’s Tree Line Film.
The studio is eyeing a spring start for the project.
Mangold’s credits include Knight and Day, 3:10 to Yuma, Walk the Line and Identity.
