In my review of Rec 2, I stated that the film was about as close as you were going to get to a great “first person shooter” film. The sequel didn’t set out to be a video game film, but it certainly adapted the style much better than, say, the Doom adaptation did. And now things are going to be taking a turn for the Spanish horror series as plans are underway to carry Rec over to a new medium.
Spanish video game developer Tonika Games is at work on a Rec video game. But this news is bittersweet as the game is not intended for one of the big consoles, but for your iPhone, iPad, PC, Android tablet and Blackberry.
The films are dictating the levels you explore, utilizing various weaponry to annihilate the possessed in FPS action. You can expect the game to strike in the first quarter of 2012, likely around the time Rec 3: Genesis (pictured) hits theaters in Spain.
