Asylum Makes a “Found Footage” Amityville Film Before Dimension Films Can

Be warned the footage is REAL

When the “found footage” angle resurfaced in the horror scene, it was only a matter of time before someone applied it to the Amityville Horror.

Then, Dimension Films announced The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes, a “found footage” thriller that was supposed to open in January 2012 before it was pushed. The project – produced by Jason Blum of Paranormal Activity – is still in the development stage.

Seizing the opportunity to get to a “found footage” Amityville project first, Asylum went into production on The Amityville Haunting. Directed by Geoff Meed, the film, according to Asylum, concerns “actual found footage that documents the horrifying experience of a family that moved into the infamous haunted house.”

The trailer can be viewed below. Look for it on DVD December 27.
