Spanish novel taking a bite out of the big screen
Vacca Films, the production outfit behind Kidnapped and Welcome to Harmony, are in development on Apocalypse Z.
The film will be based on the novel by Manel Loureiro who released the tale online before it went to print.
Javier Gullon has been tasked with writing duties; he previously penned Heiro, a ghost tale, and King of the Hill. David Alonso has signed up to direct.
Here is the publisher’s synopsis the book: What would happen if one day discover that rising civilization is falling apart? Thatâs what happens to the protagonist of Revelation Z, a young attorney who leads a quiet life and routine in a small provincial Spanish town, until an obscure medical incident in a remote country in the Caucasus takes place. Gradually what was only a small news item in newspapers is transformed into an epidemic of devastating proportions that threatens to annihilate mankind. As the disease is about eating country after country, the chaos begins to spread in Spain when the zombies invade.
