Update: Former Wolfman Director Doing Locke & Key

Joe Hill’s comic is coming to life

Update: Deadline adds that Mirando Otto (Lord of the Rings) is the first to join the cast as “Nina.”)

Fox has “locked” its director for Locke and Key, the television series based on Joe Hill’s comic book.

Mark Romanek of One Hour Photo and Never Let Me Go will helm the pilot, says Deadline.

He’ll be directing from a script by Josh Friedman. The pilot marks his directorial debut on TV. If you recall, the popular music video director was on board The Wolfman for a while before he parted with Universal over creative differences.

The series focuses on a trio of children who become the caretakers of Keyhouse, a mansion in New England that is full of secrets and magic. There, the kids discover doors that take them to different places, give them powers and even alter gender and skin color. Behind one door is a dangerously violent creature.
