Ron Perlman confirmed today in an exclusive interview with ComingSoon.net that he will not be appearing in Peter Jackson’s two-part adaptation of The Hobbit.
“I’m not doing [it],” Perlman said, adding with a laugh, “I think maybe that’s a scoop for you.”
Perlman, who has worked closely with director Guillermo del Toro, was heavily rumored to be up for a part in the film. The Hellboy director ended up leaving the project earlier this year due to production delays and it would seem that, likewise, Perlman has made other plans.
In addition to voicing a character in Tangled, Perlman will soon appear opposite Nicolas Cage in Season of the Witch and plans to again work with del Toro in the H.P. Lovecraft adaptation At the Mountains of Madness in addition to a number of other film and television projects. Check back soon for the full interview and more details.
