Emily the Strange, that beacon for all things Hot Topic-y and goth and “misfit,” is being pulled out of development hell (seriously, the movie has been on the slab for years).
Universal Pictures is going to make the film based on the Dark Horse property and Chloe Moretz will play the titular, morose character. Indeed, the young woman from Kick-Ass and the upcoming Let Me In. Emily was created by Rob Reger.
Dark Horse’s Mike Richardson will produce the project. And while there was talk of the film being animated, this will be a live-action adaptation, says our sources.
