Howard Shore Scoring David Slade’s Eclipse

Renowned composer tapped for Twilight sequel

Movie Score Magazine reports that renowned composer Howard Shore is on board to create the original soundtrack score for David Slade’s upcoming Eclipse, the third movie in The Twilight Saga.

Yes, yes, it’s technically Twilight news, but this is Howard Shore we’re talking about. While most famous for creating the Tolkien score to all three of Peter Jackson’s Lord Of The Rings films, he’s also worked extensively on the majority of David Cronenberg’s movies, as well as on other horror/thrillers such as The Silence Of The Lambs, The Cell and Se7en. David Slade of course was the director behind 30 Days Of Night.

Carter Burwell scored the first Twilight film in 2008 and Alexandre Desplat wrote the music for the second, New Moon. According to the publication, Shore has begun work, spotting the new movie, this week.

Eclipse stars returning cast members Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Billy Burke, Ashley Greene and Jackson Rathbone and will hit theaters on June 30.
