Big franchise holding up the adaptation
Wake the Dead, the adaptation of Steve Niles’ graphic novel, was really picking up steam last year.
In our last update (complete with concept art from FX house WETA), Jay Russell (The Water Horse) was still committed to direct and the script he penned with Jim V. Hart was turned in. However, according to Niles, the project is now at a “standstill.”
“We were kind of racing against time a little with WETA because they’re about to take on The Hobbit and God knows that’s going to consume all of New Zealand for the next five years,” he tells MTV.
This is the second major delay for the film which was once set up at Dimension with Michael Dougherty attached to write.
