Tarsem Singh (The Fall, The Cell) has signed a deal to direct the Snow White movie in development at Relativity Media.
This live-action film is expected to be an “edgy” and comedic look at the original Brothers Grimm story. Scripted by Melisa Wallack, the film starts with the evil stepmother killing Snow White’s father and destroying the kingdom. Snow White must then band together with a gang of seven quarrelsome dwarves to reclaim what is rightly hers.
A March start is being eyed for the production. Singh just wrapped The Immortals, coming to theaters next November.
Relativity’s Snow White movie is in direct competition with Universal Pictures’ Snow White and the Huntsman and Disney’s Snow and the Seven.
