“No more need for movies…”
When you have a film that’s under lock and key like The Cabin in the Woods, there’s not much to say but how awesome it’s going to be. That’s the approach co-writer Joss Whedon is taking for the film. That and purposely spreading misinformation where ever he can.
Whedon recently caught up to IF Magazine to playfully hype Cabin, an endeavor he’s embarking on with Drew Goddard (Cloverfield). “Ultimately it’s my and Drew’s take on the classic horror movie,” he tells the site. “Which means it’s a classic horror movie, but also means we have something specific to say about it and a different way of saying it than we’ve seen before. I think afterwards people will love it so much there will be no more need for movies. They will want to watch this movie over and over again.”
Much like his “it’s a horror movie to end all horror movies” quote from many news items ago, this latest statement will no doubt be picked apart by those with no sense of humor or sarcasm. That’s not to say Whedon’s not taking his film seriously. It’s just that, well…it’s Whedon.
The Cabin in the Woods opens February 5, 2010.
