Vertigo remake of the German horror-comedy
Producer Doug Davison of Vertigo Entertainment gave ShockTillYouDrop.com an update on the company’s first horror-comedy, Night of the Living Dorks, a remake of the German comedy by Mathias Dinter.
The U.S. version – scripted by Chris Bishop and co-produced by Roy Lee and Adam F. Goldberg – will be directed by Michael Showalter (pictured), says Davison. Showalter appeared in MTV’s “The State” and directed 2005’s The Baxter.
Vertigo is overseeing the remake for Warner Independent Pictures. In the film, three not-so-cool school friends decide to try an old voodoo ritual. When they later die in a car crash, they find themselves reborn as zombies, and try to take advantage of their new lifestyle.
Davison tells us the film’s humor is a mixture of Shaun of the Dead and Superbad.
