Billy Ray, the director of 2003’s Shattered Glass, has signed on to remake The Secret in Their Eyes for Warner Bros, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The original film, a crime thriller from Argentina, was directed by Juan Jose Campanella and told the story of a retired investigator turned novelist, trying to solve a decades old murder at the end of the 20th century. It won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2009.
Ray’s version will update the setting to have it take place in the United States in present day.
