Lucy Boynton, Kiersey Clemons and Rita Ora and are on the short list to play The Flash female lead
Three names have today emerged that are said to be on the short list to play The Flash female lead. Variety reports that Kiersey Clemons, who previously starred in The Flash director Rick Famuyiwa’s Dope, is the frontrunner for the role while The Hollywood Reporter‘s Borys Kit took to Twitter to reveal that both Lucy Boynton (Sing Street) and Rita Ora (50 Shades of Grey) are also in the running.

Ezra Miller (We Need to Talk About Kevin, The Perks of Being a Wallflower) is set to play Barry Allen, aka The Flash, in the feature, following his recent cameo appearance in this year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Miller’s version of the Flash is also set to appear in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Justice League alongside a full roster of iconic DC heroes, including Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and Henry Cavill’s Superman.

Although it has not yet been revealed exactly which character the Flash female lead might be, the trade report suggests we’ll see a new version of Iris West. Iris is currently played by Candice Patton on The CW‘s small screen take on the scarlet speedster. It is believed that the character may first appear in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Justice League, set to hit theaters November 17, 2017.
The Flash boasts an original treatment by The LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. It is currently without an official release date, although production is planned to start this year.
