Daniel Day-Lewis and P. T. Anderson reteam for fashion drama
It looks like the golden There Will Be Blood duo of Academy Award-winner Daniel Day-Lewis and director Paul Thomas Anderson are set to reunite, as Variety reports the two have entered negotiations to make a drama set in the world of fashion in 1950s New York.
Although no deal is set, Day-Lewis has apparently been attached to the project for some time, much the same way Anderson wrote There Will Be Blood specifically for the actor. Megan Ellison of Annapurna Pictures is on board to produce and finance the untitled project (which still has no studio attached), with six-time Oscar nominee Anderson (Boogie Nights, Inherent Vice) already interviewing “young actresses of Eastern European descent” for supporting roles.
Should Day-Lewis sign on, it will mark his first film role since his Oscar-winning turn in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln in 2012. Anderson most recently directed several music videos for Radiohead and Joanna Newsom, as well as an hour-long documentary titled Junun about Radiohead musician/composer Jonny Greenwood and composer Shye Ben Tzur.
