The CW 2016 – 2017 Fall Schedule Announced

The CW 2016 – 2017 schedule was announced to advertisers, affiliates and national media at New York City Center in New York City today, kicked off by the rock band Fitz and the Tantrums performing their hit singles “Handclap” and “The Walker.”

“We have four terrific additions to our schedule next season, and five great anchors at eight o’clock, every night of the week,” said Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW. “The CW has become known as the home of the best, most creative series on broadcast television, in a range of genres that appeal to the most balanced audience of any broadcast network, and the series we have for next season will absolutely continue to fit that bill. We are thrilled to have ‘Supergirl’ on The CW this fall, joining our popular roster of DC heroes. Plus, we have three new series lined up for next season that perfectly fit our brand, with the smart, charming comedy ‘No Tomorrow’ and the high-stakes drama ‘Frequency’ this fall, and the subversive take on small-town life, ‘Riverdale,’ at midseason. With these four new series added to the strongest, most competitive schedule we have ever had, The CW just keeps getting better.”

The CW also announced a Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow crossover is coming in December!

Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex, and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret. Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant. She works alongside her friend and IT technician Winn Schott and famous photographer James Olsen, who Grant just hired away from the Daily Planet to serve as her new art director. However, Kara’s days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw, head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. This has been a year of growth and change for Jane Villanueva as she adapted to her brand new role – as a virgin mother. Totally normal, right? Luckily, she had her mother, Xiomara, and her grandmother, Alba, to lean on, as she struggled to balance graduate school, work, and her son Mateo (aka the cutest kid on the planet). And oh yeah, she was also in a much debated love triangle! Would Jane choose to be with Michael, the steadfast detective? Or Rafael, Mateo’s father? And at last Jane chose Michael! And the wedding planning began. Of course, no one was more thrilled than Jane’s telenovela star father Rogelio, who was #teammichael from the start. Oh, and speaking of Rogelio – he was in love with Jane’s mother, Xo. But alas, he wanted to have kids and she didn’t. So they broke up and he threw himself into his new telenovela… and into his new telenovela headwriter. Complicated right? And speaking of complicated – let’s talk Rafael. He found himself a father of three this season, after his ex-wife Petra inseminated herself with his last sperm sample. And they had twins! Plus, poor Rafael found out his mother was a crime lord. So yeah. Pretty heavy stuff. Also heavy… Rogelio threw Jane the wedding of her dreams. But then, in the final moments, Michael was shot. And then you don’t admit the truth of why you moved to anyone including yourself for about 9 or 10 months? CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND explores what happens to Rebecca Bunch when this EXACT thing happens to her. Oh, and while this is all happening, she and many of the people she meets burst into song on a regular basis. Last season on CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND, Rebecca moved to a West Covina, California, inspired by her seemingly providential run-in with Josh Chan and started work at a law firm for a new boss, Darryl Whitefeather (Pete Gardner) who is so thrilled she moved to town he doesn’t question why. “RIVERDALE”

“IZOMBIE”

Throughout the spellbinding second season of iZOMBIE, television’s only zom-dram-rom-com, Liv Moore (Rose McIver) grows more confident in her ability to use her zombie powers to solve homicide cases. As an intrepid, zombified medical examiner, Liv eats the brains of murder victims and uses the subsequent visions she experiences to help Detective Clive Babinaux (Malcolm Goodwin) put killers behind bars. Meanwhile, Liv’s boss and confidante, Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti (Rahul Kohli), works on a means of reversing a stopgap cure that has turned into a death sentence for both Liv’s one-time fiancé Major Lillywhite (Robert Buckley), as well as her murderous enemy, brain-dealing former zombie Blaine DeBeers (David Anders). Meanwhile, the energy drink company Max Rager, headed by the unhinged Vaughn DuClark (Steven Weber), forces Major to kidnap innocent Seattle zombies in order to prevent their extermination, as well as the extermination of Major’s favorite Seattle zombie, Liv. The noose tightens for Major as Clive and his FBI love interest, Dale Bozzio, become increasingly convinced that Major is the “Chaos Killer,” a nickname given to the criminal who is making Seattle’s well-to-do (and secretly undead) populace disappear without a trace. Simultaneously, Blaine’s plan to replace his old boss as Seattle’s criminal overlord derails when Ravi’s latest version of the zombie cure robs Blaine of all of his memories. A climactic and bloody season finale scatters the pieces on the iZOMBIE chess board. A new brain supplier arises from the ashes who will make Blaine’s reign as Seattle’s number-one brain dealer look almost humanitarian. Also, Vivian Stoll (Andrea Savage), CEO of Fillmore Graves Enterprises, a private military contractor, now holds the secrets to unlimited zombie powers once possessed, but not fully understood, by Max Rager. Vivian wants to make Seattle the capital city of a zombie homeland, and she plans to do it by any means necessary. She’d prefer to do it with Liv’s help, but she’ll happily do it over Liv’s mostly-dead body. “THE 100”

“REIGN”

Life changed for Mary Queen of Scots in the third season of REIGN. Her beloved husband, Francis, died, destabilizing France. Francis’ brother, a boy-king, took the throne, leaving Mary with little solace and a great need for power. As her cousin, Queen Elizabeth, fought for legitimacy against an unyielding patriarchy in England, Catherine and Mary came to a painful realization: they have their battles to fight as well, and it is better if they do so alone. Season four of REIGN finds Mary rising to the challenge, taking back her country and establishing her rule in Scotland, the land of her birth but a wild nation foreign to her, and now, once again, her home. Even as our canvas expands to welcome a new court in Scotland with new players, including Mary’s half-brother James, and the men who vie for her hand, the French Court grows as well. Catherine gave France many heirs – too many, as it turns out. We will meet more of her brood, who are amusingly and dangerously at each other’s throats. “THE ORIGINALS”

When the culmination of a dark prophecy threatens their immortal lives, the Mikaelson family must stand together and face their greatest challenge yet as season four of THE ORIGINALS begins. For more than a millennium, the Original vampire-werewolf hybrid Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) and his brother Elijah (Daniel Gillies) have fought to preserve their family no matter the cost. But after centuries, their ruthless actions have spawned a legion of enemies – and in Season Three, they returned with a vengeance. While Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) remains at odds with Klaus over the custody of their child, she soon must choose to ally with the Mikaelsons when their long lost sister Freya (Riley Volkel) uncovers a prophecy foretelling the family’s ruin. With the arrival of the first vampires ever sired, the Mikaelsons begin to realize that their vampire progeny have joined together to eliminate their makers once and for all. As signs around them point to the fulfillment of this dire prophecy, Cami O’Connell (Leah Pipes) finds herself thrust into the center of the conflict, even as she continues to council Klaus to reject his paranoid and merciless ways. Ultimately, the influence of the returning sire lines will take a toll on trusted allies Marcel Gerard (Charles Michael Davis), Davina Claire, (Danielle Campbell), and Vincent Griffith (Yusuf Gatewood). With the Mikaelsons surrounded by enemies and prognostications of doom, they have no choice but to enact a brutal strategy that will turn everyone – friend, foe, and family – against them, thus fulfilling the prophecy itself and setting the course for season four.
