Josh Boone Turns in the Second Draft of His New Mutants Script

Check out the title page of Josh Boone’s New Mutants script, teasing his upcoming X-Men spinoff

Although a release date for 20th Century Fox‘s X-Men spinoff New Mutants has not yet been confirmed by the studio, director and co-writer Josh Boone today reminds us that the project is moving steadily forward. He posted to Instagram the cover page of his New Mutants script’s second draft and reports that it was delivered to producer Simon Kinberg. Co-scripted with Knate Gwaltney, the New Mutants script continues Fox’s X-Men universe with recent reports suggesting that X-Men: Apocalypse star Alexandra Shipp will reprise her role as Storm for a leading role. Also returning is said to be James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier, with new additions rumored in the form of Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams and The Witch star Anya Taylor-Joy as Wolfsbane and Magick, respectively.

Directed by The Fault in Our Stars‘ Josh Boone, New Mutants adapts the monthly comic book series of the same name that launched in 1982. Created by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod, The New Mutants follows on a group of teenage mutants as heroes in training in the Marvel Universe.

Check out Josh Boone’s New Mutants script, complete with a stylish logo, in his original post below. As cool as that logo is, however, Boone reminds fans in the comments that they shouldn’t necessarily expect to see it used again as the project moves forward.

“[J]ust a draft cover we threw together,” he writes. “In no way official.”
