Quentin Tarantino outdid himself once again with last year’s The Hateful Eight, a western that’s really an Agatha Christie-style whodunnit that’s really an allegory of race relations in America. It’s a brutal, funny and poignant film shot in gorgeous 70mm, harkening back to the glory days of widescreen westerns.
Today The Weinstein Company and Anchor Bay are releasing the movie on Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD as well as Digital HD, which includes a behind-the-scenes look at the filming as well as a guide to Robert Richardson’s Oscar-nominated cinematography. While composer Ennio Morricone wound up being the only one to walk home with an Academy Award, Jennifer Jason Leigh was nominated for her outrageous performance as the murdering prisoner Daisy Domergue. Did you know that she had been in another western before this? Did you also know that almost the entire cast had been in at least one western? Neither did we, until we did a little digging and turned up a whole OK corral full of westerns featuring the Hateful Eight cast, all twelve of which you can check out in the gallery below!
