Kevin Durand, who a week ago was revealed to have joined the cast of DreamWorks’ I Am Number Four, has signed up for another project with the studio.
Once he finishes playing the evil Commander in “Number Four,” he will segue to playing a Texan promoter of robot boxing in the Shawn Levy-directed Real Steel. The former project starts filming this month and “Steel” in June.
Hugh Jackman stars in Real Steel, which is set in a future in which robots fight it out in the boxing ring. Jackman is a former boxer-turned-manager who reunites with his estranged son to take his fighter to the championships.
Jackman and Durand would be reunited after the two battled it out in a boxing ring as Wolverine and The Blob in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
