UPDATE: Heat Vision says that Bobin has indeed chosen the Muppets movie over “Bridesmaids.”
Vulture reports that “Flight of the Conchords” co-creator James Bobin is receiving two offers today – one to direct Disney’s new Muppets movie, which would start production by late summer, and the other to direct Universal’s Bridesmaids, a Judd Apatow comedy co-written by “Saturday Night Live’s” Kristen Wiig about two women battling to plan their friend’s wedding party.
The script for the new Muppets movie was co-written by Jason Segel and his Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller. Stoller was originally supposed to direct the movie, but he was too busy doing post-production on the Russell Brand spin-off, Get Him to the Greek, as well as preparing to direct a new Zac Efron movie at Warner Bros.
Bobin has also worked as a writer and director on “The 11 O’Clock Show” and “Da Ali G Show.”
