Kenan & Kel reunite for The Tonight Show’s Good Burger sketch!
Anyone who grew up in the ’90s (and had cable) remembers the Nickelodeon kids sketch comedy show “All That” and the famous Good Burger routine wherein a whacked-out cashier named Ed (Kel Mitchell) would utter the phrase, “Welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger. Can I take your order?” Now, thanks to the magic of Jimmy Fallon and “The Tonight Show,” Good Burger came back last night for an especially delicious reunion between Mitchell and his former comedy partner Kenan Thompson, who reprised his role of construction worker Lester Oaks. Check out the long-awaited Kenan & Kel reunion below, along with a behind-the-scenes interview with the two!
It’s been many years since Thompson, the longest-running current cast member on SNL, had worked with or even publicly acknowledged Mitchell, who he starred with in “All That,” 1997’s Good Burger movie as well as their own series “Kenan & Kel,” which lasted four seasons. Mitchell ensured The Huffington Post last year that there was no beef between he and Thompson, but was unsure if they would ever reunite.
“I haven’t talked to Kenan in a while, so I don’t know if that would be any type of collaboration,” Mitchell said. “I know the fans want it, but I don’t know. You know, I think that I’m working on different things; he’s working on different things. And I know everyone likes the ‘Kenan & Kel’ brand, but I don’t know. We’ll have to see. It’s kind of like the movies with ‘Dumb and Dumber.’ Everybody wanted to see that again when it came back, so I don’t know. We’ll have to see what the future may hold.”
Given that the sketch proved that the two still have the magic together, let’s hope they reunite again in the near future! Thompson is currently shooting the comedy Brother in Laws with Gillian Jacobs and Bill Pullman, while Mitchell just premiered a new Nickelodeon series titled “Game Shakers.”
