Remember Cameron Crowe? The Almost Famous writer/director has not made a film since 2011’s We Bought a Zoo. Remember that one? Yeah… Well, he has made a new film called Aloha, and the first trailer was just released, which you can watch below.
I feel like there was a time when film fans were eagerly anticipating the newest Cameron Crowe film. Though with lackluster outings like Elizabethtown and the aforementioned zoo film, is he really someone you can get excited for?
He has assembled a pretty impressive cast here including Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, Bill Murray, and Alec Baldwin. I wonder if the success of American Sniper will make new Cooper fans seek this out. We will see when the film opens May 29th. Again,. you can watch the new trailer below.
A 37-year-old disgraced US weapons consultant named Brian Gilcrest (Bradley Cooper) is disliked by most everyone. His only friend is a techie named Jeremy “a super-smart and highly aware computer”. As a response to aggression from China, Gilcrest is deployed to a dormant military base in Hawaii to supervise the launch of an advanced spy satellite. Together with the anal and humorless Major Lisa Ng, he must secure the blessings of the native Hawaiian council before the launch. Gilcrest also gets a chance to meet with Tracy (Rachel McAdams), the one love of his life who got away, along with her husband and two kids. On the island he discovers himself.
