Yes, Gia Coppola is related to Francis Ford Coppola. In fact, she’s his granddaughter and now the 26-year-old has her first feature film under her belt, which she wrote and directed based on short stories written by James Franco.
The film is Palo Alto and Franco also stars Emma Roberts, Nat Wolff, Jack Kilmer, Zoe Levin and Val Kilmer and will play the Telluride Film Festival today followed by showings in both Venice and Toronto.
Here’s the synopsis:
Teddy, April (Roberts), Fred (Wolff) and Emily (Levin) are teens left largely to their own devices due to parental foolishness and neglect. They seek diversion and connectedness in each other’s company, wandering through the homes, parks and playgrounds of their tree-lined suburb. But communication is so very difficult. They struggle to articulate their feelings. Their parties may be wild and raucous…
