Heroes Reborn will also premiere at the Toronto Film International Festival
NBC has announced today that the premiere for their upcoming revival “Heroes Reborn” has been extended to two hours! The first two episodes of the series will air on Thursday, September 24 at 8 p.m. EST, but the episodes will make their world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival just days before the broadcast premiere.
Returning cast members include Jack Coleman as H.R.G., Jimmy Jean-Louis as The Haitian, Masi Oka as Hiro Nakamura, and Greg Grunberg as Matt Parkman. The cast also includes Zachary Levi (of NBC’s “Chuck” and Thor: The Dark World) along with Robbie Kay (“Once Upon a Time”), Danika Yarosh (“Shameless”), Judith Shekoni (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2), Kiki Sukezane (Death Yankee 3), Henry Zebrowski (NBC’s “A to Z”), Gatlin Green (“Criminal Minds”), and Ryan Guzman (The Boy Next Door).
In other superhero television news, TVLine brings word that “The Flash” is set to introduce a previously-teased Doctor Light as a new character in the upcoming second season. Showrunner Gabrielle Stanton notes that it will be the female version of the character, whose comic book superpower allows her to channel the far away star Vega for a number of abilities.
Additionally, Stanton was asked about how they will be introducing Wally West, set to be played by Keiynan Lonsdale, and whether he will be related to Iris and Joe in the series.
“We are a doing our special Flash magic where we take a comic book character and give it just a little bit of a ‘Hmmm,’ so that you’re like, “Oh!” Stanton says, noting West will be included “in a really, really cool way… that I don’t think the audience will see coming. He will definitely have a very interesting and close relationship with Team Flash.”
Based on the characters from DC Comics, “The Flash” is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television. The series returns for season two on Tuesday, October 6, at 8/7c on The CW.
