Mark Wahlberg will play an LAPD Detective who falls for his FBI Agent boss in Partners, a new buddy cop romantic comedy from New Line Cinema
Mark Wahlberg has signed on to play the leading role in Partners, an original action comedy from New Line Cinema. According to Deadline, the Transformers: Age of Extinction star will play an LAPD detective who falls for a beautiful woman, only to later discover that she’s both an FBI Agent and the person in charge of the case on which he’s currently working.
Wahlberg’s recent credits as an actor include Rupert Wyatt’s The Gambler, William Monahan’s Mojave and Seth MacFarlane’s comedy sequel, Ted 2. His next is Paramount Pictures’ comedy Daddy’s Home, set for release on Christmas day. There, the two time Academy Award nominee stars opposite Will Ferrell.
Coming up, Wahlberg is set to headline Peter Berg’s Deepwater Horizon, set for release September 30, 2016. It is also suspected that Wahlberg will be reteaming with Berg for another true story with the Boston Marathon bombing film, Patriot’s Day (one of several films currently in development about the 2013 incident). Beyond those projects, Wahlberg has hinted that he’s likely to appear in additional Transformers films as well.
Partners is scripted by Evan Turner and will be produced by Stephen Levinson of Leverage Entertainment. A search is currently underway for both a director and the female lead, so check back for updates as they become available.
