Arrow’s Stephen Amell to Play Casey Jones in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2!

Stephen Amell, best known for playing Oliver Queen on The CW’s hit DC Comics series “Arrow,” appears to be taking a quick detour from Starling City to the Big Apple. According to Variety, Amell has just joined the cast of Paramount Pictures and Platninum Dunes’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 where he’ll be playing a different masked vigilante, Casey Jones!

Created by Kevin Eastman, Jones first appeared in a 1985 “Raphael” miniseries, published by Mirage Studios. A hockey-mask wearing vigilante, Jones becomes an ally of the turtles and a love interest for April O’Neil.

Platinum Dunes’ Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form will return to produce the upcoming sequel which features a script by returning screenwriters Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec. Megan Fox will reprise her role of April O’Neil along with William Fichtner as Eric Sacks. The original film also starred Will Arnett, Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek, Noel Fisher, Danny Woodburn, Johnny Knoxville and Tony Shalhoub. It grossed more than $485 million at the worldwide box office.

Though unconfirmed, previous reports on the sequel have alluded to the inclusion of the likes of Bebop and Rocksteady or even the interdimensional Krang as potential villains.

Set to be directed by Earth to Echo‘s David Green, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is set for release on June 3, 2016.
