In Black or White, Kevin Costner (Dances With Woves, McFarland, USA) plays a widower who is suddenly thrown into a custody battle. He loses his wife (Jennifer Ehle, Zero Dark Thirty, The King’s Speech), with whom he was raising his little granddaughter (Jillian Estelle, So This is Christmas). His custody is thrown into question when her other grandmother (Octavia Spencer, The Help, Snowpiercer), a black woman, decides to sue for custody, along with the help of her lawyer brother (Anthony Mackie, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron).
We spoke with Costner, Spencer and Mackie about the film, the race questions it brings up, taking on a sensitive subject and finding family where you can. Take a look. Black or White hits theaters on January 30, 2015.
